Are these the off screen or on screen tests? Because I get 14fps on the Vulkan High tier using a Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 which has the S835 onscreen. The OP6 should be getting better performance figures if this is the onscreen test
That's a surprisingly high difference between the A11 and A10...I did just run the onscreen test first though and the chassis gets quite hot in one run as you said, maybe it's already dipped.
+1 Pretty please! AnandTech's take on A11 and iPhone X in general is still sorely missed. A nice deep dive on A12 and the next iPhone, with a bit of X retrospective mixed in, would surely make for a great piece.
this is a good ground for a12 GPU tests I expect a huge performance boost A12GPU, when apple remove A12 info embargo, please add a12GPU to the test I am interested in deep dive apple GPU, internet is poor of information about it
I have to admit when I first came to this page and seen OpenGL & Vulkan in a new bench mark program and then seen the video my first thought was WTH this looks so bad how is this going to work my system even just slightly. Then I read Android and was oh ok now I under stand...lol
With that said yes this would totally kill my current phone since i am sticking with my Samsung Galaxy S5 and I am sure it would get like 3-5fPS at most maybe less but the phone works great still and is still on it's first battery which is 3.5 years old so I am keeping the phone until the phone or battery gives out then I will replaces it with a Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S10 when that releases.
Yep I agree 5 generations should about do it for sure. Between the phone being built good and the Otter Box case I had installed on it the day I got the whole setup works great still. I have never had the case off since getting the phone I think it should still look brand new without the case.
I still have a Sony ZL phone as well that works like new and I use as a music player in the car and for BBQ's and fire pit nights it looked like new as well until I took it out of it's case and use it without one now. I forgot how thin Sony got those things very compact phone for a 5" screen.
I like the idea of the Aztec Ruins on High settings as the new yardstick. With the current generation top mobile GPUs getting about 14-18 fps, it gives the GPU teams of SoC makers something to aim for. Who'll be the first the crack 30fps on Aztec Ruins, High Setting? A12? Snapdragon 855? The new Kirin?
50% scaling on the A11 would be a 25fps peak, close but not quite, and that's also the peak number and not average. So I think at least two generations more for 30fps average.
It's not in any VR, it's supposedly faster thanks to Metal API while everything else still has rather bad (regarding performance) Vulkan driver's. Not only PowerVR is still competitive but only one who could stand up against Nv with RT as they had a unit for it way back before. Unfortunately I don't believe new owners are bright enough to capitalise on advantage they got.
Well to make this even remotely exact it would need to be done on the given DTP for all SoC's & on the same API, normalised; average & sustained frame rates. Which ain't going to happen ever. New android's like One + 6 manage tu keep higher sustained performance thanks to better cooling & higher DTP. Both Imagination and QC scaled their clusters up increasing their scaling performance as less clusters scale better while ARM is still playing catch up (but rather fast). Still the fact remains how Imagination is closest up to date to be competitive to QC Adrenos in efficiency & QC is leading the pact still ahead of Nv (in relative performance as mobile GPU's are very small compared to the desktop one's).
Can these tests be run on a PC - if so then a comparison graph showing a few PC systems would be useful to see the relative performance of mobiles and PCs. It would also be useful to include a link to the Kishonti website.
My GF's Mate 10 Pro got 24.9 (OGL N), 18.1 (VLK N), 8.6 (OGL H), 7.1 (VLK H) (all offscreen). A bit behind you, but not by much. Certainly a lot higher than the Honor Play listed here. Might it be running a more restrictive DVFS curve or have a lower throttle point?
Yeah, probably. But I thought Hornor Play was supposed to be a gaming phone, it was the first one with GPU Turbo and it has metal chassis for better heat dissipation.
As an interesting note, the Vulkan High version at 1080p (onscreen) runs at 11fps (693.8 frames), making the increased load _very_ evenly distributed between resolution and complexity.
On the off chance that you are having issues while playing or stacking diversions on your PlayStation like PlayStation isn't perusing the circle, an amusement isn't stacking the after a refresh, DLC for an amusement isn't working, PlayStation isn't running any recreations. In every one of these cases, you require some sort of direction with a correct arrangement. To do as such, you ought to counsel our talented specialists who will comprehend your questions and will manage you all through the procedure. http://playstation.gamesupportonline.com/

It looks from the chart that high sets the resolution to 1440p, and normal 1080p, for all devices.Andrei Frumusanu - Friday, August 24, 2018 - link
All results are offscreen in the default test resolution, meaning the High tests are run at 1440p. I edited the chart titles to clarify this.eastcoast_pete - Friday, August 24, 2018 - link
Hi Andrei, I am not normally one to suggest edits, but I believe a ":" after Aztec Ruins avoids an otherwise funny double meaning in the title.tipoo - Friday, August 24, 2018 - link

I'll go to the Galaxy S10 next year as the replacement for my own Galaxy S5. A five generation jump is enough.rocky12345 - Saturday, August 25, 2018 - link

Might just be 6 months if we get LPDDR5 and a 4 core Adreno 640 (the Adreno 630 is 2 cores) in the 855The A12 should come pretty close if they use a 5 core GPU

I was just struck by the irony that PowerVR isn't actually in any of the current standalone VR HMDs.What about AR? Magic Leap is using Nvidia. Is everyone else using Qualcomm/Adreno?

I'd wait for sustained performance numbers before jumping to conclusionse.g. in Manhatten 3.1 the A11 drops ~41% vs ~15% on the 845 (see Andrei's S9 review)
If we assume the same drop for this benchmark
High OP6 sustained: 12.05 fps
High iPhone X sustained: 10.26 fps
Normal OP6 sustained: 31.71 fps
Normal iPhone X sustained: 29.12 fps
