It's not even lack of education, people will find a reason to hate regardless of education... race is only one excuse, when someone's in that mindset they'd keep looking for a reason to hate, and find an excuse if you're not "just like them", and then if you are "just like them", they make see you as competition, LOL, you never win if you try too hard to value other's comments before you know the person, and so we have gang/group mentality far too often in America.

Easiest solution is to assume everyone is a raving loon until they say a few sentences that make sense.

    Hi Anand

Please see if you can give a copy of the book from Louise Hayes
heal your body / heal your life

to your mom. Its one great gift she may love.
    regards

sad story man. As a NC native myself I feel for you. Its hard to leave such a beautiful place, where you get plenty of days off of work due to hurricanes, floods, snow... plagues of locusts... And to make things worse, you are going to CT. Be strong brother.Be strong.

    Hi Anand!
First of all, I am sorry about your aunt. For what it's worth I'd like to think that she was probably lucky she didn't have to suffer for as long as I've known some other people do. I am sure you will all find the strength to overcome this loss.
I've been visiting Anandtech for ~3 years now and I'm really happy to see you are going to get married. I've seen many a review site/magazine but the AT crew is just up there in terms of knowledge, fun and just being good people. Have a great time (and a great LAN party ;)) with your wedding and my best wishes to Vinney and you.

He already said he's renting in CT cause he is only staying there for 2 yrs.

Hey Anand congrats on the wedding to be. Regarding rent, # 15 is right, you should buy instead of rent. The only reason you should not buy is if you have really poor credit or are not sure if you are going to stay put in that area.

Anyways have fun in Mexico (I am assuming that is where you will be going)

God bless you Anand & your soon to be wife ... may peace & long life be yours *(along with many healthy children, if you so desire!)
Also btw... welcome back to Connecticut!... I've lived here for the past 20 years & its a great place to be...just one piece of advice, when you do buy a house, steer clear of Fairfield county..
the traffic down there has expanded beyond all control (you'll see what I mean).
Anyway... I've been with you since the beginning & it truly warms my heart to see you doing so well... keep that cell phone & laptop off & we'll see you in a few weeks! :-) Cap

Humm, leaving Wesley and Kris in charge, are you sure that's a good idea Anand; they seem like the kind of guys that would turn this in to WesKrisTech in no time. ;-) In the mean time dude, enjoy your last days of freedom, and you better post that you had a killer bachelor party. =)

Congratulations Anand. I wish the best for you and your future wife.

I just recently moved to NC from Los Angeles, and I never knew you were in NC up until now. I've been visiting the site on a daily basis for years and now that I'm actually nearby, you're moving it out.

    Take care.

Oh noes! Anand is moving to CT? You can't leave NC buddy! How will you be able to work on the site from CT (I know it's possible, but what are the logistics of it?). What type of ceremony will this wedding be? Did you have to plan for this thing a lot? I know it's too late to say, but the best advice I've learned about weddings (with regards to the groom): "Whenever the women ask for an idea about something with the wedding, give a bad idea. That way, they won't ask you for any more." :)

    Cheers buddy, and good luck!

Congrats on your wedding. If there is one piece of advice that I can give, it is to enjoy the day. I got married two years ago and had a blast, but I got married at the Columbus Zoo and my best man was a woman (and my best friend since Junior High).

Now the fun part is when you have a kid. :)

Congrats Anand. You have done a lot in these 7+ years and we all think you deserve your time off with your wife. It's a good thing you are not taking your laptop or otherwise you would've spent the entire day checking out AnandTech. LOL

Our condolences to your mom. It is truly sad when you lose someone you are so close to.

Have fun at your wedding! By the way, what did Vinney say when you said you were going to have a LAN at your wedding?
  • elfenix - Saturday, August 7, 2004 - link

    high anand!

congratulations on the wedding (in a week, anyway)

and you deserve a vacation! i'm pretty sure the place won't come completely crashing down while you're away =)

    Hello Anand!

I like your idea about the LAN at weddings.
    LOL.

    Enjoy your honeymoon!
  • xype - Saturday, August 7, 2004 - link

Make sure you enjoy the "time off" Anand. All the best to your mom and have a blast with your wedding – I bet it will be great no matter what and I'm sure noone really cares about the Macdate at this particular point in your life.

(If worst comes to worst and you get 1000s of angry Mac user e-mails just post a quick note saying how Vinney likes the look of the G5 and everyone will be happy again, hehe.)

First, my wife and I want to send our condolences to you and your family on your loss. My wife is a cancer survivor; but we have many relatives that were not so fortunate. We will keep y'all in our prayers.

As for the wedding: congrats! I hardly remember anything from our wedding (I was just glad for it to be over). My wife would've killed me if we had a LAN party at our wedding. The thought did cross my mind, though.

"Uh... Honey, we need to get on the road."

"Sure thing, babe. Let me just finish 2 more maps of Desert Combat and we'll get on our way."

    Hmmmm.... yeah. I'd be dead.
